There's a lot to do in Kern, but if you'd rather watch you can do that too.
Kern has plenty to get your engine in gear with six major motor sports facilities. Road courses include the famed Willow Springs International Raceway at Rosamond and the new partner, Buttonwillow Raceway. Oval racing can be found at nearby Bakersfield Speedway. The dragsters and funny cars appear regularly at the famed Famoso Drag Strip.
Each spring and summer Kern County is home to professional baseball with the Bakersfield Blaze, a Class-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In the fall the action moves indoors with the Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League taking the ice at Rabobank Arena. Bakersfield is also home to three-time national champion Cal State University Bakersfield men's basketball team.
The area hosts major sports events throughout the year including professional bull riders, professional boxing, monster truck events and motorcycle racing on ice; while the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Kings make regular preseason visits. It all happens here.
